Home Palliative❤️Patient Dream Project

A-Cang (pseudonym), 62 years old this year, worked as an apprentice with relatives in a rubber factory in Tainan when he was young and met his wife who also lives in Tainan. After marriage, he returned to Taichung to settle and set up a factory. Taking care of his two younger brothers, he arranged jobs for them in the factory.

A-Cang is outrageous, has lot of friends, and often drinks and socializes, so the root of alcoholic hepatitis has fallen. The wife of this case feels distressedand nagging him. As A Cang's health deteriorated, he gradually handed over the factory to his eldest daughter and son-in-law four or five years ago.

A-Cang and his wife have been married for more than 30 years, and have two daughters. After marriage, the family affairs are all handled by the wife. A-Cang never interfered with wife’s decision. The case wife once said with satisfaction that although A-Cang loves to go out with friends and drink, he still respected his spouse very much and did not have a patriarchal concept. Therefore, not only did she live with the parents in law and the eldest daughter did not move away after getting married, but there was never a dispute between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. The family atmosphere is very pleasant.

On the afternoon of 9/6, the autumn temperatureheated up and made the team and family members continue to look forward to this event. Once they arrived at the case home, they were warmly greeted by the family members (case mother, case wife, case elder daughter and uncle), and case mother also offered icy honey water hospitality, maing the team feel at ease. The nurse first massaged A-Cang with essential oils to relieve edema. During the spare time, the social worker hurriedly used balloons to make the case home a joyous atmosphere, and invited A-Cang, his wife and eldest daughter to knead the clay petals together, so as to wait for preparation for decoration of hand-modeled works. After the patient's massage was completed, he began to create hand-molded creations. A-Cang, mother, and wife pressed handprints on the heart-shaped clay together, while the handprints of the two daughters were drawn on both sides of the work. During the process, the nurse led the family members to tell A-Cang what they really want. Mother said, "I wish you healthy and the disease can be relieved!" A-Cang responded: "Thank you mom forall your care!" Then everyone sang a happy birthday song together and said the blessings to A-Cang. His wife wrote a heart-shaped card "It's nice to have you" with tears, and once choked up and hid to the wall to wipe away her tears. The eldest daughter handed over the cake, and A-Cang made a birthday wish for everyone to be safe and healthy. The atmosphere was filled with deep love❤️
